California's Redwood Coast
Friday!!
07.22.05 (8:36 am)   [edit]
Well the week has flown by once again. I'm leaving this Sunday to go staff at a summer camp for 8th and 9th graders where I will be the camp pastor. Should be a fun time and I'll probably have a story or two to post when I get back.
Have a smashing weekend!

Cheap Drugs!

Well, with prescription drug costs soaring Pizza Hut launches it's new campaign (I snapped this on my way home the other day).

Have a snappy caption? Post it.

Life is good...
07.18.05 (8:34 am)   [edit]

It's funny, Jess was commenting yesterday how it feels like we've actually had less time to get together with friends this summer. Every night there is something going on. It's been a busy, but great summer so far, and it's time for a life update which I don't give enough of on this here blog.

Work/School: Jess has 4 weeks left until she is a bon-a-fide nurse! It's funny how a hypochondriac like myself married a soon to be nurse. Work for me has been outstanding and stretching. I'm learning a ton in my position here at the church and God is my main teacher. I've also begun to write a bit more, some of which I may start posting. Recently our Senior Pastor was away so I found myself leading worship and teaching for a couple Sunday's. Also I'm heavily involved with developing a vision for the way we disciple/evangelize in our church. There are a lot of exciting thi ngs happening, too many to write - your prayers are appreciated!
Family: My brother and sister in law are pregnant with a girl. He's stationed in N.C. so we're hoping to scrape together some money to fly over and see them next year.
My Dad just turned the ripe old age of 60.
Ben is in the middle of his DTS but is in need of some more money so that he can go on outreach. It's a miracle in itself that he's where he is. If you're interested in supporting him drop me a line.
Us: As you can see two posts down, we just celebrated our 2nd anniversary. You know you made the right decision when your more in love 2 years later then you were when you got married, and let me tell you we were pretty in love.
Fun: Well summer got here late, but the weather has been outstanding lately so we've been enjoying BBQing, hiking, and chillin at the beach. I've also been playing on our church softball team which is currently undefeated.
Even though we haven't been able to leave town much this summer we've had the privelege to have some friends we haven't seen in a while come stay with us. Casa de Fouché is always open if you're up for a visit!

Crazy Story!
07.12.05 (11:15 am)   [edit]

So there are a few versions of this, but the story goes like this:

A 12 year old Ethiopian girl had been kidnapped by several men and was being forced into marriage. She was being beaten because of her refusal to marry and somehow got away. As she ran crying a group of lions came out and surrounded her keeping her kidnappers away until sometime later police showed up and they left. Of course people are trying to reason the miracle away but either way it's a miracle. Here's the CNN version.

Anniversary!
07.11.05 (8:02 am)   [edit]
Two years ago today I made one of the best life decisions I probably will ever make...I married my best friend, the sweetest girl, and the hottest woman I've ever met! Time flys but my love has only grown. Happy second anniversary baby!

Hint of Lime
07.05.05 (9:46 am)   [edit]

The following is a true story:

Friday afternoon Jess and I headed east for an overnight camping trip hoping that amidst all of the holiday travelers we could find a decent camp site. We found a little known site east of Willow Creek right above Burnt Ranch Falls with only one other camper in the area we we're stoked. As we set up camp we noticed that the campers before us had left a pile of gathered wood which had gone unused. They had also left chip bags strewn about in the forest, macaroni noodles scattered about, and a punctured sprite can.
After a hike down to the falls and a nice dinner Jess layed down in the tent to escape the Mosquitos and I messed around with my guitar. Around 7:30pm I went in the tent to chat with Jess and as we lay there talking we heard a loud rustling noise about 10 feet from the tent. Being as how the sun was still shining I thought their must be some bold racoons around here. Jess and I both sat up quickly and through the mesh in our tent saw the culprit...a bear! He had sniffed out our Hint of Lime Tostitos and rustled through the shopping bag they were in to remove them. We saw him and he saw us and bolted about 20 yards away, stopped and started chowing. Telling Jess to stay in the tent I jumped out, yelled, and clapped my hands and the bear took off.
As Jess and I processed what just happened the earlier overlooked clues came into focus. The left firewood, the torn chip bags in the woods, and the punctured Sprite can that now looked like it had been punctured with teeth. This boy had been here before and those people had left...
So instead of spending the night waiting for him to return I cursed him for eating my Hint of Lime Tostitos and we packed up and left.
