Last day!
04.29.05 (12:40 pm)   [edit]

Well another job, albeit a brief one (4 months) is over. Today is my last day at HealthWare Solutions and although it's been a good learning experience I can't say that I'm really sad. People have asked me what it's like to sit in a cubicle all day, in front of a PC answering peoples problems and testing software. The closest thing I can relate it to is the feeling you get when it's a beautiful day and you've been sitting inside with the shades drawn watching TV for hours, and then you finally get up and go outside and have a kind of depressed, tired, hung-over feeling. That's how I feel every day.

So here we go, after a 3 year break from full time ministry I'm excited and ready for the challenges God has for me!
Daily prayers are greatly appreciated!

Truly Amazing
04.27.05 (9:57 am)   [edit]
My Dad just recently told me about a Great Uncle of mine who was a world class runner. I never met him but he wrote 3 books about how he ran across the U.S. at the age of 73 and by the age of 80 had run across every state. His trek across the U.S. (chronicled in "10 Million Steps", forward written by my governor) took 124 days which meant he ran the equivalent of a Marathon a day! Forrest Gump has nothing on Paul Reese!

Quick long weekend
04.25.05 (10:33 am)   [edit]

Jess and I both took Friday off, her from school and me from work. We headed south for a secluded little vacation community called Shelter Cove to explore for the day. To get there you go south to a little "farming" community in the redwoods and then head due west on a windy road until you hit the coast. Shelter Cove is an interesting place, basically like a hidden neighborhood of giant houses on the coast that people only live in part of the year. Not a whole lot there except a couple of cool beaches, one of which Jess and I were at long enough for me to get my annual sun burn and see some whales which were literally only about a hundred yards from the beach. Other than that the weekend went pretty fast. One more week at my job...

P.S. We are now taking bookings for weekend stays (or longer) at Casa De Fouche for the Spring/Summer Season.

Easy on the cheese
04.21.05 (1:33 pm)   [edit]

If I was to pick one group that I would call the biggest rip off artists, or copy cats as we called them when I was a kid... it would be Christians (a close second would be the Fox network).
Behold the latest item desgined to help young Christian kids witness to their friends...I give you the "Die Saved" bracelet.

Now I know what your thinking, "I don't have any room on my arm after my WWJD and FROG bracelets!" My advice to you is this, pray the prayer of Jabez, get out of the late 90's, cash in your secular "Live Strong" bracelet,  and jump on board the J-Train for the newest gear...I mean movement, that's sure to bring revival.

New Job!
04.18.05 (1:42 pm)   [edit]
I have had quite a range of work experience in my lifetime:
Paper Boy, Lawn Care, Auto Detailing, Fast Food, Entertainment (Go-Karts & Lazer Tag), Construction, Maintenance, Waiter, Carpet Installer, YWAM Staff, Office Administration, and Tech Support.

Yesterday a decision went before the congregation of my church to hire me on full time as an Associate Pastor. I was approved and will start full time on May 1st! I've been on staff part time for the last 2 years as the college/career pastor but I'm excited to be able to devote all of my time (workwise) to the church. It's going to be challenging but there are some definite movements toward change in our church which is exciting.
Keep Jess and I in your prayers!

I'd rather be...
04.15.05 (8:54 am)   [edit]
Well it's taken awhile but I think spring is finally here. Just up the road from where I'm working is a popular surf spot called Camel Rock which has a cool web cam that you can control. On days like this while I'm stuck in the office it's pretty hard to be here so this is my window to the outside world... literally since I'm in a cubicle.

Busy Weekend!
04.11.05 (1:50 pm)   [edit]
I got a phone call late Thursday from my Senior Pastor telling me he was sick and asking if I could speak at both services this last Sunday, and so my weekend started...
Jess and I lead worship at the first service (the second is more traditional with a choir), I spoke, then taught in the Discipleship class in-between services, then spoke in the second service, and we capped off the night with a song at the Youth Pastor's going away party. T'was a busy day indeed but I think God used it to pave the way for some upcoming happenings, more on that later.
On another note if you want to see a good indy film that will make you cry (I rarely cry, even when Burton killed my rat) I reccomend the flick "I am David." Powerful message with a PG rating which is rare.

ONE MORE THING: For those of you in Kona, my brother Ben will be arriving tomorrow (Tuesday the 12th) to work in the Mission Builder program for 3 months. Treat him like you would a Foosh!

Check it
04.06.05 (1:09 pm)   [edit]
My sister, who I honestly think has a stonger voice then Norah Jones just got interviewed by a local paper. You can read the article here.

If your around this Thursday the 7th she'll be performing at Old Town Coffee and Chocolates. She'll be singing Jazz tunes which she is amazing at!

God and Beer
04.05.05 (9:50 am)   [edit]

Now I'll try and be sensitive with this post because I understand that there are people that genuinely have issues with alcohol and have struggled with alcholism. On the other hand there are those in the church that somewhere, somehow made up some theology about how having a pint is a sin. The question is why?
Jesus first miracle was making wine. Not only making wine but making wine when people had already had too much to drink. Now I've heard pastors from the pulpit try and say, "Well, we all know wine back then was weak, more like grape juice." That's baloney because there were no refrigerators to slow down the fermentation process. But I digress...
Beer really came into it's own with the Christian Monks and there are
stories of saints even performing miracles with beer. Upon the study of the Bible and church history the only logical conclusion to come up with is that it is more biblical to drink beer then to not. Some day I might start something similar to what one Catholic Church in Oregon has started.

Liger
04.04.05 (3:23 pm)   [edit]

So if you haven't seen Napoleon Dynamite then you should. If you have, then I thought I would inform you that after much research I have found out that there is indeed such a creature as a Liger. Click here and the picture for the straight up facts.

P.S. Yes, the last blog was an April Fools joke...

Little Foosh!!!
04.01.05 (1:04 pm)   [edit]
I just got off the phone with my wife and I am pleased to announce that less than 9 months from now a little Foosh will arrive into this world!!! I am speechless...more to come later.
