| A great combination |
| 11.30.04 (9:22 am) [edit] |
|
Tom Green and Humboldt County - a great combination. Tom Green was up here a few weeks ago filming with The Tonight Show in search of California's most interesting person. Well, anybody who's been here before know's there's a plethora of "interesting" people. Turns out they did find the most interesting person here, which is no surprise. So tune in to The Tonight Show this Wednesday night for a nationally televised Humboldt experience.

| What, it's over?! |
| 11.29.04 (10:29 am) [edit] |
|
Well my four and a half day weekend is over just like that. It was a glorious weekend of eating and, umm eating. We went to my Dad's place for dinner on Thanksgiving and had a pleasant but fairly boring night. Then on Saturday Jess and I tried our hand at making a traditional Thanksgi ving feast and had my Mom and little sister over for Thanksgiving dinner Part II. We found out that it's not really that hard to make a Thanksgiving dinner and made a pretty dang good turkey, if I do say so myself. It also helps that Jess is a really good cook! I would have to say that the second best thing next to having a really good Thanksgiving dinner is having a really good Thanksgiving poo. Happy Monday!

| New Job |
| 11.22.04 (9:52 am) [edit] |
|
Well it's official, I gots me a new job! After two years at the HSRC I'm moving on to an even more thrilling job. I will be working as a Tech Support/Software Tester for Health Ware Solutions. It's still an office job but the pay is better and there is a lot more room for advancement, so I'm stoked. The only draw back is that it's in Arcata so I'll have to get used to driving a bit farther and dealing with all the hippies. I'll be starting January 3rd which is nice because it allows me to take some time off between jobs.

It may look like a cheesey Atari game from the 80's but it's kind of addicting - ok maybe I'm just bored, it's Friday.

For more addicting games click here. *As always you need broadband to enjoy.

| Adopt a Turkey |
| 11.16.04 (11:17 am) [edit] |
|
Well my favorite eatin holiday is almost upon us - Thanksgiving (second is 4th of July)! It's really quite an amazing holiday. You eat until you feel like your going to puke, watch football, eat some more, and then the animal that gave it's life for your gluttony has one last gift for you, a natural drug called tryptophan that causes everyone in your family to fall into a deep sleep only to wake up hungry again. Somewhere in there you give thanks for the relationship between the quaker oats guy (I think his name is Wilfred Brimley) and Pochantas for starting the whole tradition. The Indians were also the first ones to show Brimley and his clan that corn looks the same coming out as it does going in, which started some kind of social revolution and inspired a band of the same name which spells corn with a K. Anyways, the real reason I'm writing is that someone wants to put an end to this wonderful holiday, and I just won't stand for it. You may have seen families that adopt a poor orphan overseas by sending some money to help them live. In return you get a picture of the kid and feel good about yourself. Well that's all fine and good, but now there is a movement to do the same with the Turkey's. This is big and will eventually lead to equality with Turkey's and them having a place at the Thanksgiving table, not as dinner but to share dinner. Wilfred and Pochantas would roll in their graves if they new this was happening! If you don't believe me look at this picture and click on it to go the website. Let's keep Thanksgiving sacred!

We're heading up the coast this afternoon, for the weekend, to meet up with our friends Mike and Adrienne in the little coastal town of Brookings, Oregon. There will be music, food, laughter, brew, and much rejoicing as we partake in the bountiful abundance of our cornucopia of friendship. Fo sheezy!

| Christian Culture |
| 11.08.04 (1:31 pm) [edit] |
|
Christian culture is full of absurdities, some of my favorties:
- only listen to 'Christian' music - alcohol is evil - piercings/tattoos are sinful - courting vs. dating There are really too many to list, but feel free to send me some of yours and I'll add them. In the meantime I highly reccommend this book:

| A day of mourning?! |
| 11.04.04 (9:41 am) [edit] |
|
I seriously am astounded at the reaction of the bleeding heart liberals! During our little shin dig last night, of course the election was a hot topic. Every one of us started sharing our stories of how the liberal left is literally mourning. From a professor saying he didn't know if he could teach that day, to coworkers saying, "I wonder what civil rights were going to lose?", to ridculous towns like Arcata who want to pull out of the United States. Honestly if Bush would have lost I would have said, "Well that sucks" and gone on with my life. People are seriously talking about moving out of the country!! In the words of the great poet Justin Timberlake, "Cry me a river!" If you want to leave the country, then please don't waste any time, go now. All though you wouldn't know it from the crap that is pop culture, there are people who have solid morals, convictions, and standards...and surprise they are the majority! If you want to move to another country I reccomend Canada or France...you'll fit right in.

| Yes! |
| 11.03.04 (7:12 am) [edit] |
Well it's official, Kerry has conceded and Bush has won a second term in office! Of course I'm stoked, but not just because Bush won, but because this election shows that morals and values are still important to this country. Unfortunately my age group didn't get out in the numbers that were hoped for so I guess P. Diddy is going to cry. Seriously though, the implications for what has happened in the presidential race and the senate races across the country are very positive from a value based standpoint. Everyone I work with up here in hippyville are already planning their next protest of their right to kill babies. I will say this though, Bush has a lot of work to do. The issues haven't gone away at all and there is a lot that needs to be done in Iraq, with the Economy, health insurance and many more issues. I wouldn't wish the presidency on my worst enemy. But I do believe that God's man is in the White House and it's my job to pray for that man. So, thank you God!
