California's Redwood Coast
Found!
09.30.04 (12:45 pm)   [edit]
Well after activating the Amber Alert and sticking up flyers on telephone poles Jess and I finally found our little Rosa. After the great escape she headed straight for the couch (one of my favorite places) and decided she'd gone far enough. When we found her she pooed in our hand which is the universal hamster sign of love, and vowed never to scare us like this again.

For Jessica's B-Day I got her a Russian Dwarf Hamster. Rosa is possibly one of the cutest things I've ever seen. We feel like we've bonded with her already, or so we thought. I woke this morning to find that Rosa had somehow opened her cage door and escaped. It appears that her sweet demeanor was just a front to gain our trust. She is now somewhere in our apartment, most likely sleeping as of the publication of this blog entry. Being as how she is about the length of my thumb, Jess and I will have quite a task tracking her down. I'll keep you posted.

Have you seen this Hamster?

Happy Birthday Jess!

On this day 25 years ago a great miracle happened...the one who would become my beautiful wife was born! Happy Birthday baby, I love you more than anything!

I never used to think Spider Man was a real person until now. The only bummer is that he's French!

Sunday night...
09.19.04 (7:55 pm)   [edit]

I haven't blogged in days because of a lovely little flu bug that kicked my butt starting on Wednesday of last week. It's not exactly flu season so it caught me by surprise, but I'm doing better now. This weekend was chill as I finished getting over the flu, had dinner with some friends, watched football, watched a dumb movie and had some exciting meetings at church.
I mentioned a while back about teaching English to some Chinese people, well that ended up only happening once because our schedules didn't match - they work from 9am until 10:30 pm. I still get random phone calls for help though. For instance on Saturday night I got a phone call from Kaddy, one of our Chinese friends asking me if I could help a friend of hers buy two fishing boats. I know nothing about buying fishing boats but said I'd see what I could do, so I'm heading over to their place tonight with some advertisements from the local paper for fishing boats for sale. Should be interesting.

Good movie
09.13.04 (9:21 am)   [edit]

This last weekend Jess and I saw the movie "Hero." If you want to see a truly beautiful and poetic martial arts movie then this is the one. Although is has it's fair share of high flying martial arts and mythical fight scenes it's quite a bit different than "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.

I love the coast!
09.09.04 (10:37 am)   [edit]
I've been all around the world, lived in Hawaii, and I still think the NorthCoast of California is one of the most beautiful spots in the world. Jess and I had a nice relaxing Labor Day weekend...

Check out a few pics!

Have a good Labor Day!

Hope everyone has a lovely Labor Day. Make sure to get outside, barbeque some meat, and drink some quality beer.

Busy
09.01.04 (11:19 am)   [edit]

Well life has been busy but good lately. Jess is in school full time and working part time and I'm getting busier and busier with church college/career group stuff as well as working full time.
A couple things are starting up in the next couple months that I'm totally stoked about. One thing that is much needed is a gathering of all the local twentysomethin gs once a month. We're calling it "The Median" which kind of represents where&nbs p;our age group is at in life, between high school and raising a family. Our first couple "Median" gatherings are going to be at Humboldt State University and we're looking forward to worshipping and hanging out and not worrying about denominations.
The other thing which I'm even more stoked about is the begining of what I see as a kind of ministry house down town. We've got a sweet offer on a warehouse that we're hoping to transform into a place where we can do church in a way that reaches people who would never set foot in a pew filled sanctuary. The idea is to have a church type service once a week, bands a couple days a week, bible studies, coffee, and just a cool place to chill that looks somewhere between a coffee house and a club. God is good and I'm so stoked to be a part of what he's doing!
